Although being an owner of a multi-family property can be a great way to ensure a sizable revenue stream, life as a landlord doesn’t come without its share of headaches.
What does a Homeowners Association do?
An HOA, meaning Homeowners Association, strives to protect and improve property values for those living in the community. They do this by enforcing restrictions on what homeowners can and cannot do and guaranteeing the maintenance and upkeep of common areas.
Do I need Renters Insurance?
Each property’s requirements will differ, if renter’s insurance is required, your EBMC representative will advise you of the requirements.
What utilities will I be responsible for?
Utilities may be set up in a variety of ways, depending on where you live and the wishes of the property owner. In many cases, residents will be responsible for contacting utility companies, transferring the bills directly to their names, and paying any associated fees.
Can I do a month to month lease?
A 12-month lease agreement is standard. unless otherwise stated.
What if I need a Guarantor?
A Guarantor is not technically a “co-signer”. A Guarantor is a qualified person who agrees to be immediately and entirely responsible for rental payments if the leaseholder does not make rent payments on an apartment/home.
Can I still be approved with bad credit or an eviction on my credit?
Your credit score may play a major role in your ability to rent an apartment. Some landlords might deny your rental application if you have bad credit even if you have a spotless rental history and a sizable salary.
What is a Security Deposit and why is it required?
While security deposits may seem complicated to understand, we're going to make sure you get as much information as possible here so that you can make the most out of your rental property.
Is my application fee refundable?
The application fee is non-refundable. Rental application fees are collected by landlords alongside a rental application.
